We’re very excited for Doug Heaman to join us as our 2016 President (Michael – you really #OWNEDit last year). Doug is President of Advocate Insurance Group in Kitchener. His theme for the year ahead is Create Your Future based on the famous Abraham Lincoln quote: The best way to predict your future is to create it. We had the opportunity to ask Doug a few questions to get to know him a little better… looking forward to a year of turkey bacon, Zac Brown and over 30 years’ experience to learn from.

IBAO:    What was your first job?
Doug:    I was a construction labourer.

IBAO:    How long have you been in the industry?
Doug:    33 years.

IBAO:    What’s the best thing about your current job?
Doug:    The people I work with and the clients I get to serve.

IBAO:    Who’s your hero?
Doug:    Anyone who overcomes obstacles.

IBAO:    How many pairs of shoes do you own?
Doug:    Not sure exactly. More than 20, less than 35.

IBAO:    In a movie based on your life, what celebrity would you want to play you?
Doug:    Kevin Bacon!

IBAO:    What motivates you to succeed?
Doug:    The thought of failure.

IBAO:    What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
Doug:    Zac Brown, New Year’s Eve in Detroit, 2014.

IBAO:    What’s your perfect holiday?
Doug:    A week at the cottage with my family.

IBAO:    How would your colleagues describe you?
Doug:    I thought I should ask them…

Doug:    Two strips of turkey bacon, two eggs and coffee.
