(Toronto, ON) The Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) is set to launch a multi-faceted awareness campaign on Ontario Auto Reform. New changes effective June 1, 2016 are part of a continuum of reforms by the Government of Ontario to combat widespread fraud and abuse of the system.

“It’s important consumers understand that Ontario Auto coverage is changing,” says Jim Murphy, IBAO CEO. “These changes continue the trend of more choice for consumers – products can be tailored to suit individual needs and budget.”

The campaign will include broker education, consumer brochures and videos, and a social media campaign.

“We are offering a number of free educational components to our members,” says Murphy. “Ontario Auto 101 is an on-demand webinar that reviews changes and the transition process to the new product. We are also producing a live webcast – a panel discussion featuring insurers, legal experts and brokers – that takes a more in-depth look at the implications changes will have on consumers. ”

Dates for these offerings have been set for end of January and beginning of March respectively. Several hot topic webinars will also be available in the Spring that further explore coverage reform. The IBAO encourages insurers to refer their broker partners to these training opportunities.

In addition to broker education, a number of consumer-facing resources will be offered to members including brochures, videos, blog posts and social sharing.

“Client lifestyle is a real focus of this campaign,” says Murphy. “This is a tremendous opportunity for brokers to lead the conversation with their clients and ensure they have the best coverage for their lifestyle.”

Could this be offered to a meeting of our brokers in person? I’m looking a May 12, 2016 presentation to approximately 35 people at the Ajax Convention Centre.
